Acts 4: 32-37
The Believers Share Their Possessions
32 The group of believers was one in mind and heart. None of them said that any of their belongings were their own, but they all shared with one another everything they had. 33With great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God poured rich blessings on them all. 34There was no one in the group who was in need. Those who owned fields or houses would sell them, bring the money received from the sale, 35and turn it over to the apostles; and the money was distributed according to the needs of the people.
36And so it was that Joseph, a Levite born in Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “One who Encourages”), 37sold a field he owned, brought the money, and turned it over to the apostles.

Morning Prayer
Dear God, it's heartwarming to see that the early believers took such good care of each other. Lord, the early believers showed a great example of true Christian fellowship through making sure that that each other's needs were met. Lord, may we follow the example of generosity of the early believers of so long ago. We give honor, glory, and praise to your holy name. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Acts 2: 43-47
Life among the Believers
43Many miracles and wonders were being done through the apostles, and everyone was filled with awe. 44 All the believers continued together in close fellowship and shared their belongings with one another. 45They would sell their property and possessions, and distribute the money among all, according to what each one needed. 46Day after day they met as a group in the Temple, and they had their meals together in their homes, eating with glad and humble hearts, 47praising God, and enjoying the good will of all the people. And every day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved.

Morning Prayer
Dear God, it sounds like life was good for the early believers of this time long ago. Lord, may we always praise your name, and may we always be grateful for the fellowship of other Christians. Lord, may our relationship with you be strengthened through fellowship with other Christians. Lord, may we share whatever abundance that we have with others. We give honor, glory, and praise to your holy name. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Acts 2: 32-42
32God has raised this very Jesus from death, and we are all witnesses to this fact. 33He has been raised to the right side of God, his Father, and has received from him the Holy Spirit, as he had promised. What you now see and hear is his gift that he has poured out on us. 34 For it was not David who went up into heaven; rather he said,
‘The Lord said to my Lord:
Sit here at my right side
35until I put your enemies as a footstool under your feet.’
36“All the people of Israel, then, are to know for sure that this Jesus, whom you crucified, is the one that God has made Lord and Messiah!”
37When the people heard this, they were deeply troubled and said to Peter and the other apostles, “What shall we do, brothers?”
38Peter said to them, “Each one of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven; and you will receive God's gift, the Holy Spirit. 39For God's promise was made to you and your children, and to all who are far away—all whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
40Peter made his appeal to them and with many other words he urged them, saying, “Save yourselves from the punishment coming on this wicked people!” 41Many of them believed his message and were baptized, and about three thousand people were added to the group that day. 42They spent their time in learning from the apostles, taking part in the fellowship, and sharing in the fellowship meals and the prayers.

Dear God, we thank you for Peter's bold message to the crowd to turn away from their sins, be baptized, and to believe in Jesus Christ. Lord, we also thank you for Peter successfully converting many people in the crowd to Christianity. Acts 2: 1-7
The Coming of the Holy Spirit
1 When the day of Pentecost came, all the believers were gathered together in one place. 2Suddenly there was a noise from the sky which sounded like a strong wind blowing, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire which spread out and touched each person there. 4They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak.
5There were Jews living in Jerusalem, religious people who had come from every country in the world. 6When they heard this noise, a large crowd gathered. They were all excited, because all of them heard the believers talking in their own languages. 7In amazement and wonder they exclaimed, “These people who are talking like this are Galileans!

Morning Prayer
Dear God, we thank you for the coming of the holy spirit all those many years ago, Lord, we may not necessarily see tongues of fire like the believers on that Pentecost of long ago did , but we feel the holy spirit with our hearts and through its still, small voice. Lord, teach us to listen to the still, small voice of the holy spirit. We give honor, glory, and praise to your holy name. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

John 7: 1-9
Jesus and His Brothers
1After this, Jesus traveled in Galilee; he did not want to travel in Judea, because the Jewish authorities there were wanting to kill him. 2 The time for the Festival of Shelters was near, 3so Jesus' brothers said to him, “Leave this place and go to Judea, so that your followers will see the things that you are doing. 4People don't hide what they are doing if they want to be well known. Since you are doing these things, let the whole world know about you!” ( 5Not even his brothers believed in him.)
6Jesus said to them, “The right time for me has not yet come. Any time is right for you. 7The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I keep telling it that its ways are bad. 8You go on to the festival. I am not going to this festival, because the right time has not come for me.” 9He said this and then stayed on in Galilee.

Morning Prayer
Dear God, it's a shame that even Jesus' own brothers didn't believe in him to the point that they tried to pressure him into going to the Festival of shelters so that people could see all the great things he was doing. Lord, may we have faith and believe in you and Jesus, even when we don't have big miracles in our lives. We give honor, glory, and praise to your holy name. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Jesus Blesses Little Children
(Matthew 19.13-15; Mark 10.13-16)
15Some people brought their babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. The disciples saw them and scolded them for doing so, 16but Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17Remember this! Whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”

Luke 17: 11-17
Jesus Heals Ten Men
11As Jesus made his way to Jerusalem, he went along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12He was going into a village when he was met by ten men suffering from a dreaded skin disease. They stood at a distance 13and shouted, “Jesus! Master! Have pity on us!”
14 Jesus saw them and said to them, “Go and let the priests examine you.”
On the way they were made clean. 15When one of them saw that he was healed, he came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16He threw himself to the ground at Jesus' feet and thanked him. The man was a Samaritan. 17Jesus spoke up, “There were ten who were healed; where are the other nine? 18Why is this foreigner the only one who came back to give thanks to God?” 19And Jesus said to him, “Get up and go; your faith has made you well.”

Dear God, how sad it is that none of Jesus' own people gave thanks to you for being healed of such a dreadful skin disease. We give honor, glory, and praise to your holy name. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Riches in Heaven
(Matthew 6.19-21)
32“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the Kingdom. 33Sell all your belongings and give the money to the poor. Provide for yourselves purses that don't wear out, and save your riches in heaven, where they will never decrease, because no thief can get to them, and no moth can destroy them. 34For your heart will always be where your riches are.

The Lost Sheep
(Matthew 18.12-14)
1 One day when many tax collectors and other outcasts came to listen to Jesus, 2the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law started grumbling, “This man welcomes outcasts and even eats with them!” 3So Jesus told them this parable:
4“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them—what do you do? You leave the other ninety-nine sheep in the pasture and go looking for the one that got lost until you find it. 5When you find it, you are so happy that you put it on your shoulders 6and carry it back home. Then you call your friends and neighbors together and say to them, ‘I am so happy I found my lost sheep. Let us celebrate!’ 7In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine respectable people who do not need to repent.
